Ian Tong, MD is Chief Medical Officer of Doctor On Demand. He has spent his entire career working hard to improve access to high quality care and has continued this work at Doctor On Demand.
Ian is Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated) at Stanford University Medical School. Prior to joining Doctor On Demand, he has had multiple medical leadership roles including former Stanford Internal Medicine Chief Resident; Founder and Medical Director of The Health Resource Initiative for Veterans Everywhere (THRIVE) which was honored, in 2008, with the VA Secretaryâ€™s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Service to Homeless Veterans; Co-Medical Director of the Arbor Free Clinic and most recently as Medical Director of Doctor On Demand.
Ian is a National Collegiate Champion in Rugby at the University of California at Berkeley and was named to the All American Team in 1994. He graduated with a BA in English. He earned a medical degree from The University of Chicago - Pritzker and completed residency and Chief residency at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. He is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Ian lives in East Palo Alto with his wife and three children. He is most proud of the relationships he has built working alongside his family, friends, teammates, students and colleagues to positively impact the lives of others.
